Titus 1:6-9, 1 Timothy 3:1-7

Last week we looked at the reason why Paul left Titus in Crete. It was for two purposes. Set things in order that was not finished and to appoint elders in every city.

We looked at elders through the book of Acts. They prioritized the ministry of pray and the word while also prioritizing the physical needs of the church. They through the Spirit clarified the doctrine of Salvation being by grace through faith in Christ alone, not requiring keeping the law of Moses for salvation. Elders are to care for the flock, paying attention to themselves, and the whole flock. Watching for wolves from outside, and for those on the inside that lead the flock away.

Today we will discuss the qualifications of an elder.
