9/28/25 - Mark 12:35-44

Last week we looked at three questions Jesus was asked. The first by the Pharisees and Herodians, do we pay taxes? Give to Caesar what has his likeness on it, give to God what has his likeness on it, that is us. We give ourselves to God. The second question was from the Sadducees about the resurrection. Jesus tells them they are wrong, they do not understand the scripture, they do not believe in the power of God. You are wrong. The third question came from a scribe asking what the greatest command is. Jesus gives three really, God is one, love him supremely and love others as yourself. The scribe said these are more important than sacrifice and Jesus answers, you are not far from the kingdom of God. He is not there, but he is talking to him. This brings us to our first verses this morning. Verses 35-37 both look back to the scribe that is not far from the kingdom of God and looks forward to the scribes Jesus is warning about and the widow Jesus is commending.
