10/4/26 - 2 Samuel 7

Over the past two weeks we watched David act in pride, I am going to do what I want to do, no matter what God says. He is with me and it will be okay because he is good. Or maybe he was deceived in thinking that he was honoring God but in reality he was bringing disgrace to his name. What we learned from this is that God is dangerous, not in an evil way, but he is holy, holy, holy, way, so much so that to be in his presence, to touch his throne, which was the ark of God, not on the terms he had prescribed brought death. No man will ever enter the presence of God in eternity without coming through his Son Jesus, this is the terms God has prescribed. After David’s man died because God is Holy and we are not. David is humbled. Finds himself afraid. Then brings the ark to the people of Israel the prescribed way found in Numbers 4. In his humility he strips away his royal clothes and dances with all his might before the Lord. Who is the only King.
