8/9/26 - 1 Samuel 25-26
Last week we looked at the first of three tests David will face. He and his army are hiding from Saul in a cave and Saul comes into the cave to relieve himself. Everyone is sure that God has delivered Saul into the hand of David. Test number 1. Would David force God’s will. Would David make the promise of him becoming king a reality by taking matters into his own hands by killing Saul? Like a special forces soldier snuck right up on him and cut the corner of his robe off, His heart, his conscience shaped by the word of God and his heart after God, struck him. He knew in that moment, you cannot take matters into your own hand, you cannot force the will of God to happen, this is the Lord’s anointed. You cannot lay down your cross and put on your crown in your timing. David must wait on the Lord.
In chapter 24 the first test is David spares Saul.
In chapter 25 the second test is David spares Nabal and takes Abigail as his wife.
In chapter 26 the third test is David spares Saul.
We looked at chapter 24 last week. Today we start with chapter 26 and end with chapter 25.
