9/6/26 - 2 Samuel 3-4
Last week was something, Saul and Jonathan die. A man lies about killing Saul, David has him killed. David laments Saul and Jonathan. David is anointed king of Judah and Ish-bosheth is anointed king of Isael. There is a challenge between Joab the captain of David’s army and Abner the captain of Ish-bosheth’s army. All 24 men die. There is a fierce battle and Abner loses and is on the run. Abner kills one of Joab’s brother and there is a temporary peace treaty between Abner and Joab. The fight for humility, willingness to be humiliated to fight our pride. To recognize who are enemies truly are, to recognize our need to trust God and not make something happen. In trying to force God’s will we find ourself lying and exaggerating to make people believe we are something we are not.
Just when we thought, people could not get any crazier, then they do.
